Having worked for Donald Fagen of Steely Dan when I was just out of college, I can see him licensing the song for this use to be ironic.
Thus proves the formula Steely Dan – (interesting notes x tempo x good musicianship) = Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Friends don’t let friends remove suspended seconds and jazz chords from Steely Dan, and then give the remaining song the speed and texure of a lullaby. Remember this, kids. And stay in school.
